Importing Photos
A core concept in Take Stock are Film Rolls, which are usually going to be the photos shot on one roll of film. Images can be imported into a Collection, which can contain images from anywhere on your computer, useful for adding metadata to an existing collection that may already be organized.
Folders can also be imported, best when adding metadata while scanning, as the contents of the folder will be automatically refreshed as files are added or removed.
Matching Filenames
When a file has been imported Take Stock will attempt to match the camera, lens, and film stock based on the filename. For example, a photo called "Delta3200 CL Sum40" would be matched to my Leica CL, 40mm Summicron-C, and Ilford Delta 3200 in my collection.
In the Roll Inspector Take Stock shows a filename at the top made up of the film stock, camera, and lens selected. Using this name when scanning will automatically match the equipment used.
Roll Metadata
The selections made for the roll will be the default for all photos in the roll. The base characteristics like the film source, film stock, camera, and lens are unlikely to be different for each photo. When choosing the roll exposure it's best to make a reasonable guess about the shutter speed and aperture.
Capture Date
The date picked for the roll is the starting date, which can be advanced for each frame by a given number of seconds, minutes, hours, or days.
Photo Metadata
Most options can be customized for each photo. For example if you switched to a longer lens for some portraits select those photos, navigate to the Photo Inspector, and choose the appropriate lens. Similarly the exposure settings and date can be set.
When selecting a specific date for a photo the auto-advance for the roll will continue from that date.
