Indexing Folders
Once your session has been set up and your shotlist imported it's time to index the files on disk. This is done in two stages, first indexing the capture folder and then the output folder.
The Capture Folder
Indexing the capture folder will scan the filesystem for RAW files. During the scan it will skip any files in the test folder and won't index anything inside the "CaptureOne" folder. Once the scan is complete the files which have been found are assigned to a shot using the capture pattern. Additionally, if enabled, the metadata will be read from each file.
Any file which has been matched to a shot will appear under than shot in the sidebar. Files which didn't match any shot are visible in the Unassigned Files table.
Reassigning Shots
If you've made any changes to the shotlist (such as adding, removing, or renaming shots; or changing the capture matching pattern or output patterns) you may want to rematch the indexed files without rescanning the filesystem. Select Shotlist > Reassign Shots
to begin the process.
Reassigning shots will preserve any metadata. The process will also update the output file list.
Scanning Metadata
To manually refresh the metadata for each file, either because changes have been made or metadata wasn't read automatically, select Shotlist > Scan Metadata
. The process will attempt the read the metadata from each file, including EIPs.
For large sessions the process can take a while.
The Output Folder
Indexing the output folder will update the output file matches. The process is fairly quick, as instead of doing a recursive search of the filesystem it simply checks whether each expected file exists or not. When finished the output pattern columns in the Shotlist Overview will show the total file count for each shot and recipe, and the shot detail table will show a checkmark for each output file present.
If, instead of a green checkmark or red circle, a grey circle with a slash is shown in an output column that output format is missing its file list. To resolve the issue reassign the shots.
