Finding Shots

When using Guided Import or importing shots from the capture folder all folders must be at the same "level" and only the deepest level of folders are used. Below are different examples of capture folders and how the shots would be imported.

Flat Folders

A basic example, like below, has three folders which will be found and presented as shots to import:

  • Capture
    • Shot 1
    • Shot 2
    • Shot 3
1st
Shot 1
Shot 2
Shot 3

Nested Folders

If your shoot has more structure, perhaps your shots are organized by day or subject, then the importer will give the option to import the first level of folders as the Set List.

  • Capture
    • Day 1
      • Shot 1
      • Shot 2
      • Shot 3
    • Day 2
      • Shot 4
      • Shot 5
      • Shot 6
1st 2nd
Day 1 Shot 1
Day 1 Shot 2
Day 1 Shot 3
Day 2 Shot 4
Day 2 Shot 5
Day 2 Shot 6

Deeply Nested Folders

Any level of nesting is supported, as long as the shot folders are all at the same level. Either the first or second column can be selected as the set list in this situation.

  • Capture
    • Day 01
      • Location 1
        • Shot 1
        • Shot 2
        • Shot 3
      • Location 2
        • Shot 4
        • Shot 5
        • Shot 6
    • Day 02
      • Location 3
        • Shot 7
        • Shot 8
        • Shot 9

Day 1 Location 1 Shot 2
Day 1 Location 1 Shot 3
Day 1 Location 2 Shot 4
Day 1 Location 2 Shot 5
Day 1 Location 2 Shot 6
Day 2 Location 3 Shot 7
Day 2 Location 3 Shot 8
Day 2 Location 3 Shot 9

Unsupported Folder Structures

A folder structure in which the shot folders are at different levels isn't supported and may result in shots not being found. In the example below the first day of the shoot has two locations and the shots are divided into folders for each location; on the second day there's only one location, so the shot folders are one level up.

When scanning the capture folder for shots Capturebot will find the shots, nested three folders deep, but will skip the folders in day two as they are at the same level as the location folders from the first day.
